Linux Administrator, Miami

The Linux Administrator is a key member of our IT and virtualization operations and must possess a strong commitment to high-quality customer service and solid work ethic.

This position is responsible for all functions relating to the installation, configuration and operation new software releases and upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, resolves software/hardware related problems, performs system backups and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and management of infrastructure projects
  • Create and maintain Linux environments strong emphasis on best practices
  • Identify, troubleshoot issues
  • Develop and test scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Assist with maintenance of customer service SLAs
  • Maintain and participate in on-call support schedule.
  • Document and improve existing processes
  • On-call responsibilities are required as part of this position

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience
  • Proven track record identifying and championing appropriate new technologies
  • The ability to lift and handle packages/hardware weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Strong knowledge and experience in server, network and applications, problem resolution, planning and execution
  • Proficient with managing and prioritizing multiple projects
  • Ability to partner with customers and hardware/software partners
  • Strong communications skills and ability to impart information about technology and Brinkster services to prospects and clients
  • Very good organizational skills for internal responsibilities and project management with clients
  • Manage own projects and prioritizes tasks according to deliverables

Work Conditions

  • Working in a 24x7 on-call environment supporting and troubleshooting systems managed by Brinkster.
  • Working extended hours to meet project deadlines, when needed.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of off-site installation and or training
